Sylvan Lake is an excellent place for dragon boat racing. The entire race course can be viewed from the beach and the finish line is right at the end of the pier. Racer's Zone was located on the pier within steps of all services. Teams can warm up with a fun - or competitive - game of volleyball or a swim. Over 500 participants and volunteers enjoyed a great day of racing and camaraderie. |

Refreshments were available on site - Paddle Paths Inc. partnered with local non-profit groups to provide food and service kiosks - including a pancake breakfast from 8:00 to 11:00. Proceeds from these vendors will help support organizations such as Kindercare and Neighbourhood Place. The Racer's & Volunteer BBQ was at the Sylvan Lake Golf and Country Club Tournament House and is operated by the Sylvan Lake Rotary Club, returning proceeds to the community. |

Sand volleyball courts surrounded by cool
grass lay among the small evergreen trees scattered around the pier
providing shade and personal space without blocking the view of the lake
or race course.
The beach is long, wide and very shallow - spectators can watch the races from the beach - or the from the water in the comfort of their own beach chair. |
