Paddle Paths Inc. evolved from Chris Hansen's passion for canoeing, kayaking and dragon boating. After serving as race chair and race director for the first Lethbridge dragon boat festival, he and other similar-minded folk formed the Lethbridge Paddling Association to help paddling sports continue when the Lethbridge event finished.
After his third successful year of planning and operating the Lethbridge dragon boat races, Chris felt it was time to introduce the fun and fitness of paddling sports - and to spread the benefits of dragon boating - to other Southern Alberta communities and so Paddle Paths Inc. was born.
Paddle Paths Inc. was deeply involved in the very successful 4th & 5th annual Lethbridge dragon boat races and brought dragon boat racing to Sylvan Lake in 2005! 2007 marks our 3rd season of dragon boat racing in Sylvan Lake, thanks to Paddle Paths Inc. and our event sponsors.
Chris and Paddle Paths Inc. are now working with partners in Medicine Hat to establish an annual dragon boat festival in Southeast Alberta in August 2007!
